The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025.
This examination is a gateway for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS in India.
NEET UG 2025 Exam Date
The NEET UG 2025 is scheduled to be held on May 4, 2025 (Sunday). The examination will be conducted in a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM (Indian Standard Time), lasting a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes. The test will be administered in a pen-and-paper (offline) mode.

Exam Pattern
- NEET UG 2025 will include questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
- The total number of questions will be 180, and the exam duration is 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Each subject will have 45 questions, making a total of 720 marks. The format will be multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four options each.

Marking Scheme
For each correct answer, candidates will receive +4 marks.
An incorrect answer will result in a deduction of 1 mark (negative marking). Unanswered questions will not receive any marks.
Mode of Examination
The exam will be conducted in pen and paper mode (offline), similar to the previous year.
Extra Time for PwBD Candidates
Candidates with benchmark disabilities (as per RPwD Act, 2016) will get one extra hour, regardless of whether they use a scribe or not. Those needing a scribe must provide a disability certificate as per the prescribed format.
Medium of Question Paper
- NEET UG 2025 will be available in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, and Malayalam.
- Candidates selecting English will receive the question paper only in English.
- Those selecting Hindi will receive a bilingual paper (English + Hindi).
- Candidates opting for a regional language will receive a bilingual paper (English + the chosen regional language).
Important Notes on Language Selection
The language option cannot be changed after submission. If there’s any confusion in translation, the English version of the question will be considered final. Candidates qualifying in NEET UG 2025 will be eligible for All India Quota and State Quotas, regardless of the exam language.
NEET UG 2025 Syllabus
The syllabus for NEET UG 2025 has been finalized by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) under the National Medical Commission (NMC). It encompasses topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology), aligning with the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12.

Physics
- Class 11 Topics: Physical world and measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Oscillations and Waves.
- Class 12 Topics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.
Chemistry
- Class 11 Topics: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, s-Block Element (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals), Some p-Block Elements, Organic Chemistry – Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.
- Class 12 Topics: Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, p-Block Elements, d and f Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life.
Biology
- Class 11 Topics: Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology.
