There are 4,116 vacancies available for apprentices in various trades across the Northern Railway region.
Eligibility Criteria

Selection Process
- No Written Exam: Selection is based entirely on merit.
- The merit list will be prepared by giving equal weightage to Class 10 marks and ITI marks.
- Shortlisted candidates will go through Document Verification (DV).
- After DV, they will need to go through a medical fitness test to be eligible for engagement as apprentices.
Training and Stipend
- Selected candidates will be trained under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- During apprenticeship, they will receive stipend/payment as per the rules defined in that Act.
- Important note: Completing the apprenticeship does not guarantee a permanent job in the Railways.
- Selected apprentices receive a monthly stipend during training, as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and applicable railway guidelines.
- Approximate stipend amount(s):
- 1st Year: ~ ₹7,000 – ₹7,700 per month.
- 2nd Year: ~ ₹7,700 – ₹8,050 per month.
- 3rd Year: ~ ₹8,050 – ₹8,500 per month.
Note: This is stipend/training pay, not regular employee salary.
