Selection Process – SSC Delhi Police Constable 2025

The recruitment process for Delhi Police Constable is conducted in multiple stages. Every candidate must qualify at each stage to move forward. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) – This is the written exam, consisting of 100 questions for 100 marks. It checks knowledge in GK/Current Affairs, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and Computer Awareness.
  2. Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE & MT) – Shortlisted candidates must clear physical standards (height, chest, etc.) and physical activities like running, long jump, and high jump. This is qualifying in nature.
  3. Document Verification (DV) – Candidates who qualify in the written and physical tests are called for document checking. Original certificates of age, education, caste, etc., are verified.
  4. Medical Examination – Final shortlisted candidates undergo a medical check to ensure fitness for police duty.
  5. Final Merit List – Prepared based on performance in the Computer Based Test only, but candidates must pass all other stages (PE & MT, DV, Medical) to be eligible.

 Summary:

  • Written exam decides your rank in the merit list.
  • Physical tests, document check, and medical exam are qualifying filters—you won’t get marks for them, but you must clear them.
  • Final selection is based on CBT marks + successful completion of all qualifying rounds.

Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE & MT)

After the written test, candidates must also pass the physical tests. These are qualifying in nature (you must meet standards but scores don’t count toward merit).

Physical Measurement (PMT)

  • Male: Minimum height ~ 170 cm (with relaxations for certain categories)
  • Male: Chest measurement required, e.g., 81 cm unexpanded, with expansion requirement
  • Female: Minimum height ~ 157 cm (with relaxations for some categories)
  • Female: No chest measurement required

Physical Endurance Test (PET)

These include running, long jump, and high jump, with standards differing by age and gender:

GenderAge Group1600 m RunLong JumpHigh Jump
MaleUp to 30 yrs6 minutes14 ft3′9″
Male30–40 yrs7 minutes13 ft3′6″
MaleAbove 40 yrs8 minutes12 ft3′3″
FemaleUp to 30 yrs8 minutes10 ft3′0″
Female30–40 yrs9 minutes9 ft2′9″
FemaleAbove 40 yrs10 minutes8 ft2′6″

Key Points to Remember

  • The written exam is major: 100 marks in 90 minutes.
  • Negative marking (–0.25) means wrong answers cost you, so answer carefully.
  • Physical tests are essential—no matter how good your written score, you must pass PE & MT.
  • Make sure to work on all four subjects, giving extra focus to General Knowledge (largest marks share).

Document Verification (DV)

Once candidates pass the PMT, they undergo Document Verification.

  • Officials check original educational certificates, age proof, category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), identity proof, and domicile.
  • Only genuine and eligible candidates are allowed to move forward.
  • Failure to show valid documents = disqualification.

Medical Examination

Candidates who clear DV are sent for a Medical Examination by Delhi Police medical authorities.

  • It checks physical health, eyesight (6/12 without glasses), hearing, and general fitness.
  • Candidates must be free from diseases or physical defects that can affect policing duties.
  • Unfit candidates may appeal for a second medical board review.

Final Merit List

The Final Merit List is prepared after all stages are over.

  • Only marks from the Computer Based Test (CBT) are considered.
  • However, candidates must pass the Physical Tests, Document Verification, and Medical Exam to be included.
  • The merit list decides who gets the appointment as a Delhi Police Constable.

In short: DV confirms your documents, the Medical Exam ensures you’re fit for duty, and the Final Merit List (based on CBT marks) decides your selection.
